About SPLAT

'SPLAT Fest', celebrating Student Performance Literature Art & Theatre at the University of Warwick, is dedicated to creating opportunities for all students to pursue their creative talents.

Our success lies in the ambition and commitment of our diverse student body but hinges upon the support of our external sponsors who help us to realise the potential of student creativity on our campus and beyond.

Celebrating its 6th anniversary in 2009, the Warwick SPLAT Festival, is a non-profit annual week-long celebration of Student Performance, Literature, Art and Theatre. Since its inception in 2004, it has brought together diverse and creative individuals who have created the first and largest student run arts festival in the world. The achievements of the festival and its participants have been praised by individuals such as Alan Rivett, Director of Warwick Arts Centre, Tarell McCraney, playwright and actor, and Warren Mailley-Smith, professional concert pianist.

Highlights of the SPLAT '08 programme included a night-time promenade performance of A Midsummer Night´s Dream, an international break-dancing competition, an open-air cinema. A number of productions also went on to receive 4 & 5 Star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Taking place this year from Sunday 21st to Thursday 25th of June, SPLAT is the climax of the academic year, a chance to unwind and celebrate the year´s achievements. Students and members of the local community alike can relax in the summer sunshine and enjoy over sixty-five free events taking place in venues across the University campus and in the Warwick Arts Centre. In 2009 the Festival is undergoing development through mass re-branding, increased student participation and improved links with corporate bodies. We are also working to increase participation throughout student and local communities.
