Student, Performance, Literature, Arts & Theatre

Student

Every year the executive committee for the Arts Festival is made up of a body of students recruited by the Union. The students come from all different backgrounds and areas of the University. We are very keen for this diverse body to expand so please drop us an email if you want to get involved!

We have great support from all the Union Staff who work closely with the Students to make the Festival happen. However, the Festival would not happen without the dedicated and continued work of all the Students involved.

This year the Exec meets every Friday at 3pm so please please drop us an email if you think we should put forward new ideas, or if you have any suggestions for the Festival.

You are the Students that this Festival is about. So please get involved!

Performance

Live Performance is the key to this Festival. Students being Creative = Performance!

A Few examples:

  • European Break-Dancing Competition
  • Love Music Hate racism Collaboration
  • Drama in Tocil Woods
  • Late Night Cinema on Rootes Fields
  • Concerts
  • Comedy Nights
  • Cabarets

Think outside the box and come perform, or take part as a spectator!

Literature

2009 is the first year that there will be a literary calendar for the Arts festival. We’re very excited about the possibilities this will provide for students. Workshops, forums, readings and talks will be arranged for and by students and professional writers. Any ideas-let the literary coordinator know!

Art

Exhibitions. Photography. Cinema. Installation.  All applicable.
You can apply to put anything anywhere on campus, however please do your research re: Estates and Security!

Theatre

Most of the theatre will take place in the Arts Centre Studio. But this is dependent on each application. Please be aware that the entire theatre programme will be open to public viewing.
